Spain
was the destination of the first holiday makers seeking
guaranteed sunshine abroad and half a century later
is still the country of choice for many people considering
purchasing property in the sun, whether for holidays,
investment or retirement.
Costa Blanca's warm climate has given it the reputation
of being the healthiest place to live in Europe, where
lifestyle can be as slow or as fast as you want it.
It's name is derived from the endless white beaches
from Javea to the north of Alicante through to La Manga
to the south. Golf courses are abundant throughout the
region, so it is no wonder that this area is now the
second most popular in Spain with the British after
the Costa del Sol.
Costa Almeria to the far south
is possibly one of the most natural unspoilt coastlines
remaining in southern Spain, boasting a hot, arid and
sunny climate resulting in almost desert conditions
inland where Western style movies have been filmed.
Development of the area is still in it's infancy but
there is no doubt that it is gathering pace.
In between Coasta Blanca and Costa Almeria is the Costa
Calida which until recently has remained relatively
undiscovered. Known as the 'Warm Coast', it extends
for 250km, while just inland is spectacular scenery
with a backdrop of awe-inspiring mountain ranges. Add
to this that the area is serviced by 3 international
airports with flying time of only 2 hours from the UK,
and one can begin to understand why people are waking
up to the growth potential.
